Johnny Depp is engaged to his Rum Diary co-star Amber Heard
Johnny Depp has got engaged to Amber Heard, just a few months after the two went public with their relationship.
Amber is almost half his age (he’s 50, she’s 27) and he spent 14 years in unwedded bliss with Vanessa Paradis, so why get married now? A friend of Johnny’s told People magazine that the actor was attracted to her independence. “She's a great match for him and his individuality,” he said. “She's a free spirit.”

Johnny and Amber got close on the set of 2011 film The Rum Diary. They initially denied reports of a romance but went public last June when they were photographed holding hands at a Rolling Stones concert.
Amber was a big fan of Johnny’s before they got together. “You can't help but adore his talent, his passion, his magnetic force that pulls you into all his brilliance,” she said a few years ago.

From 1998 to 2012, Johnny was with French actress Vanessa Paradis, who he met while filming The Ninth Gate in France.
Although they never married, they had 14 happy years together and had two children, Jack and Lily-Rose.
They announced their split in 2012, amid reports that Johnny had got close to Amber.
In a recent interview, Johnny said he and Vanessa still had an amicable relationship. “It doesn't stop the fact that you care for that person, and they're the mother of your kids, and you'll always know each other.”
Since finding fame, Johnny hasn't spent more than a few months as a single man. He dated supermodel Kate Moss for four years from 1994.
At the time, they were one of the world's biggest showbiz couples.
They broke up in 1998 and Kate later admitted she had a hard time getting over him. “Years and years of crying. Oh, the tears!” she told Vanity Fair.
“I was not good for Kate,” Johnny said years later. “But she's a strong girl and a great girl and very smart.”
Before that, Johnny was with his Edward Scissorhands co-star Winona Ryder for nearly four years.
They started dating in the early nineties after meeting at the premiere of Winona's movie Great Balls of Fire.
Johnny got a 'Winona Forever' tattoo on his arm but changed it to 'Wino Forever' when they split.
Johnny has been married before. He wed his first girlfriend, Lori Anne Allison, in 1983 but it only lasted two years.
The in-demand actor has also formed close friendships with many of his female co-stars, including Helena Bonham-Carter.
The pair have appeared in many films together due to Johnny's ties with director Tim Burton, Helena's partner, including Alice in Wonderland and Sweeney Todd, pictured.
The A-lister has starred in three films alongside Christina Ricci: Sleepy Hollow, Fear and Loathing in Las Vagas and The Man Who Cried Wolf.
Johnny starred with Penelope Cruz in Blow and a decade later in Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides.
He's also on good terms with Angelina Jolie after they starred together in The Tourist.
Johnny is a mummy's boy and occasionally takes his mother Betty Sue Palmer to awards ceremonies. She must be one of the proudest mums in Tinseltown!
